Almost move time!

Well hello there!

You might think that things have been a little quiet over here but I can assure you that they haven’t! We are waiting for our plans to be drawn up for the “forever house” and while we wait I have been busy practising my photography skills with a REAL camera which you can check out here if you like!

We are getting closer to settlement and I have been busy packing up a lot of the stuff that we don’t use all the time and putting it in boxes labelled “forever house” that will stay packed up until we move into our own place. I cant see the point in packing this sort of stuff up twice!

I am also happy to say that we have finally been able to organise a rental property that we will live in while we build!

It’s kinda cute don’t you think? Not exactly what we have been used to but it will be just perfect for us for the time being. It has heating, cooling and plenty of storage and the very best part of all is that it is in the next street from our land so we will be able to wander around there whenever we like AND will be close enough that we can’t use distance as an excuse for not getting the work done!!

We will move in a couple of weeks! Eeeeeek! I can’t believe after all this time it’s really about to happen…..

the ball is rolling….

Yesterday morning we got up early and headed off down a very foggy peninsula link to our land in Safety Beach. We had a meeting there with Phil from Storybook Homes. Phil is going to design our “forever house” for us and our meeting was a chance for us to give him our wish list. All along I have felt good about this move but after this meeting I felt even better if that’s possible. I also feel really good about working with Phil. He really seems to “get” what we are after. Steve said to me “I think he knows what we want better than we do!”

We found Storybook Homes many years ago and loved the look of them. We are going for a relaxed, spacious, holiday feel! There are no floor plans to choose from as each home is designed to meet each clients needs. I love that our house will be unique to us and exactly what we dreamed of!

You can see more by clicking on the link here. This house below is just an example from the website. Please note the blue door!! We all know I love a blue door!!

I’m really looking forward to sharing this journey with you……..

our patch of dirt

Not one for wasting any time…… We have been on the lookout for property in Safety Beach for a little while now. We have looked at land as well as old houses we could pull down, old houses we could renovate, and newish houses we wouldn’t need to do anything to……

We have just found out that our offer has been accepted on a rather lovely patch of Safety Beach dirt just down the road from the beach!!

We are just a 5 minute walk away from the beach ……

A new adventure is about to begin…..

Now we start putting all the plans and dreams that we have had over the years together….. So excited to get started 🙂

I’m so very pleased to say that our house sold on auction day! The auction was a bit of a fizzer but we sold soon after and we are delighted that now we can move on to our next project!!!

The sky was dark and stormy when I got up on auction day but luckily the sun came out just before inspection time. I have never seen so many people in my house!!! It was really weird……. A giant thanks to all of our family and friends who were there to support us on the day and for all the lovely messages we have received…… You are all awesome!!!

Anyway, now the hunt begins for land on the mornington peninsula to build our “forever house”….. So excited!!!

one more sleep….

Tomorrow is the BIG day!! Tomorrow our home is being auctioned and hopefully will be sold. I have lived here for 21 years, all my babies have grown to adulthood here, so many wonderful memories……
How do I feel? I’m excited….. Looking forward to a new beginning. I’m also a little sad. It will feel very weird to go “home” somewhere else….. I hope a lovely young family will buy this house and that they will make as many amazing memories here as we have!
And if it doesn’t sell? We get to enjoy a finished house for a bit longer…… Either way we are winners!!
Thanks for all your well wishes and kind words over the last little while, it’s greatly appreciated!

To be continued…………….

open for inspection

Well here we are with just one week to go until the auction! The time has gone really quickly and I am pleased to say it has actually been pretty easy to keep everything nice. In fact it has been lovely to have such a clean house!!

We have had lots of people through, way more than I ever imagined we would and the feedback has been great. Our agent, Trevor Bowen, has been absolutely amazing!! He has worked so hard to get as many people to see the house as possible. He has been respectful of our time and privacy throughout the marketing period and has made us feel so comfortable throughout the whole process with his relaxed and friendly nature – feels like we have been friends for years.

It’s going to be a busy week with a few more “opens” and a few private viewings to get through and then the auction! See you here next week with the result!!
If you would like to speak to our agent Trevor you will find his contact details here

vintage beauty

I’ve been busy working on my house with more posts on that to come, but today I want to share with you a beautiful little beach cottage that is for sale in McCrae. It is just gorgeous and sure did give me an extreme case of house envy!! I’m guessing that there has been a lot of interest in it as it was originally “for sale” and is now going to auction. If you want the details, click on the link HERE which will take you directly to the listing.

This house has been styled to perfection!! I just love it, so beachy & vintage and relaxed!!!

I absolutely love the light fitting in the living room which has been up-cycled from an old cray net (I think that’s what they are called!) I also love the fireplace which looks to me like it might be concrete that has been brushed. Brilliant!

Check out the vintage light fittings in the dining area and the gorgeous limed floorboards. Fabulous french doors open out to a great deck and let in loads of natural light.

A galley style kitchen with open shelving has my little heart pounding. I love open shelving in the kitchen and in this kitchen I think the doors at the end are perfect. They just invite you out to the garden, if you can get past that little seat without making yourself too comfy!!

The bathroom is a winner. I could spend hours in there just looking at the shower. How cool is the shower base? They have really done this well.

This house has captured my heart. An awful lot of thought has been put into the presentation and I am guessing that many many hours of searching for all of those unique vintage pieces has kept the owners busy. I could see myself living there quite happily for the rest of my days……. Plenty of room for a vege patch AND it comes with what I am told is the essential mancave!!

Perfect 😉
